Previously I had the previous model of this coffee maker, Breville YouBrew (BREBDC600XL). After having some problems with that model, including weak coffee in any room, and at best hot coffee, I was lucky to have YouBrew's older brother (or his sister?) In his hands. I can safely say that Breville has carefully considered all the comments received from the previous model and has made sure to correct / modify it in this new and improved beast of a car.
The shape and dimensions of the machine are almost identical to those of the previous machine, except for the small grinder adjustment button on the top which adds about an inch to the top of the bean chamber where it is located.
In the control of the grind, Breville (according to the information of his team of engineers) has redesigned its heating element for the water and has also moved it to a more suitable place where the sensor for the water temperature can collect the date with precision, which guarantees that you will get the preparation temperature of 200 degrees F necessary for a tasting, a HOT cup. It also seems that the rotating lid of the thermal carafe has been slightly modified so that it fits better and creates a better seal. I'm not sure it has any effect, but it makes sense because even the smallest space on the lid can cause a loss of temperature much faster than most can suspect. This is definitely no longer a problem!
Breville has added adjustable burrs inside the grinder to this new model. Now, on the top of the cereal chamber there is a button to adjust the coarser or finer grind so as to obtain the best grinding size to ensure that coffee is bold, tasty, but never bitter. In addition, the machine still has an adjustable "force control" which ultimately increases the proportion of coffee and water bottoms to make a stronger coffee and vice versa for a weaker coffee.
What else is this brewer's nice? Breville has completely redesigned the already simple LCD panel, which is really useful and more than an old boring watch to make it bigger than ever. The display clearly shows the amount of water in the internal tank (and it is not necessary to remove all the water like traditional coffee machines), the resistance setting, the size of the selected service (cups for the pitcher and ounce mode)) for a single cup). It also allows access to the menu to configure the clock, the preparation completion signal (low, high or disabled) and the automatic start function (optional).
In the menu it is also possible to access the calibration function; This allows the mill to turn on for 10 seconds. Then, the amount of ground coffee is weighed and entered into the menu with the power button. Then, the brewer recalculates the crusher timer to get the correct relationship between grinding and water. This is important since all coffee types, origins and toasts will always be crushed differently; It is a good idea to calibrate every time you change the brands / types of coffee beans.
The machine produces up to 12 cups of excellent flavored coffee (or 8 if it is produced in the 3 strongest settings), as it may come out with beans if you try to prepare the 12 full cups with this configuration. It will not allow the grinder to start if it is attempted in a morning fog on Monday. Show a whole lot "!" icon and a "OVERFLOW" warning in bold that allows you to make the necessary changes. Otherwise, just select how many cups you want, the strength when you press the 1-8 setting button (Breville recommends 4 for a medium-intensity coffee) but you can raise or lower it according to your preferences.
The following is the single cup mode. A simple push of the jar / single cup knob changes directly to the single cup mode. Just remove the thermal carafe and place your favorite mug / travel mug (there is also a removable anti-drip tray if you love a large cup like me.) Rotate the dial on the cups to select the size of your mug (or a little less if add) cream / sugar) from 8 ounces to 20 ounces in increments of 2 ounces. Press start and the water is preheated, then the interesting part starts. Since only one cup consumes little water, it is difficult for water to absorb all the flavor and extract. of the routine if it drips.
