Delicious food drink and welcome!
It's really nice to see that Coffee Corner returns to its former self with friendly and welcome faces. It is a good place for coffee cake and with furniture, comfortable sofas and toys for children, it is a god that sends parents to Stortford. It was sad to think that he had changed beyond recognition, but it was fantastic to have returned him to his former glory. Please do not change!
Shadow of his previous self.
Coffee Corner was a bit unpredictable with food and service, however, it had improved in the last year. What he did was a good food menu with many choices and a good cake / sweet stuff / beverage selection.
In recent weeks it has changed owners. The new owners have significantly reduced the menu, apparently, so the food no longer needs to be prepared and prepared by a professional chef, but anyone with rudimentary culinary skills.
The selection of the cake is almost nonexistent and there are only three shakes. The shake that my wife had was tasteless with the consistency of a yogurt that could not be drunk with a straw. It also costs £ 6, which is very expensive considering the poor quality.
The breakfast selection has about six items, mainly with sausages, bacon or scrambled eggs. There are no cereals, muesli or similar.
The full English breakfast costs £ 10, very expensive, in my opinion, for what you get and compared to other coffees.
I had a sausage sandwich from the breakfast menu and a year, a funny "sausage sandwich" from the children's menu. They were identical in size and the scabs had not been cut by the latter, so I'm not sure what made it "fun" or focused on the kids. The sausages were of good quality.
My wife had the avocado in fermented dough. The avocado tasted like lemon juice, presumably it had been previously prepared on the day (or days) first with the lemon juice used as a preservative.
The main menu is predominantly a "multiple choice" salad / sandwich / sandwich gangue.
For a company (Lulu Coffee) that seems to be proud of its coffee, my Americana does not know very well. In addition, they offered nothing beyond the norm (flat white, American, mocha, etc.), which you would find elsewhere.
Since there are many other cafés in Stortford, cheaper with better food quality and options, I think they have to change their business model or lose their habits.
Potato jacket
I went with my wife and I had very good dad. It had a good dressing for salads and the jacket was large and very well made.
It has potential ...
I've been here twice because the menu looks fabulous but unfortunately it does not work.
The last time I had the avocado on toast with chili, something similar that I have in my favorite brunch in Cambridge (current issues) and this does not even have the slightest comparison. It seems like something I can easily do at home. Thin slice of regular bread, avocado flakes and hot pepper.
This week I had the GF cookie that had a rancid taste, without chocolate and I left it. The coffee (American black) was burned and bitter. It's not very nice and it went too.
I gave him two stars because the menu has potential, it only serves a better coffee and it seems a good place for the young mothers to fill up with them and the children to cry.
