Great place fantastic people
Milkshake very nice. Bright selection of cakes and drinks. If the menu is hungry, it looks very good, I went
One of my friends told me about this place in San Jose that played jazz music most nights. We came here on a Sunday afternoon around 7 and did not see anyone playing music. We are stationed around 7:30 and just as we were leaving, we discovered that there is a poetry race every second Sunday of the month. The music started soon after and, boy, we are glad we waited patiently. We were not disappointed.
They have a Jazz Jam session that lasts until 11:00 am. Anyone can register on the sheet for different instruments ranging from drums, double bass, piano, guitar, saxophone, etc. You can also subscribe if you are a singer. I guess they have a guy who coordinates who plays in an enrollment session.
As we were going to stay for a while, we decided to try the food there. I'm not a big fan of the pub / bar, but the jambalaya and the grilled salmon exceeded our expectations.
The atmosphere was wonderful, the people friendly, the food was good and the music was unique and fun. All the elements you need for a perfect Sunday night!
The entertainment side of Cafe Stritch is easily 5 star. Phenomenal musicians, cozy place but with adequate space and a constant flow of drinks for adults at reasonable prices.
The food balances the 3 star review ... Fairly standard for pub food, but everything leaves a lot to be desired. However, I thank you for not cooking my hamburger too much. And the clam broth was pretty good, considering that crustaceans can be crap in pubs ...
All in all, Cafe Stritch is a must in a certain weekend.
If you are looking for a rigorous dining experience, I suggest you reconsider.
If you like live music and a jazz fan, this is THE place to go! They have live music practically every night, a lovely place with an excellent selection of drinks. If you have not already done so, try the Horchata Spiked, it's dangerously addictive! Personally, I have not received food here yet, so I can not comment much on that, but I love the atmosphere!
This jazz bar is right next to the dtsj climbing gym, my friend brought me here to tell me about his $ 8 burgers and fries.
This place was packed one night from Monday to Friday, the orders at the reception, paying and then finding a place somewhere. They have live music and different bands almost every night. I did not order the burger and the fries because I did not feel like a burger, and I got their mac and cheese instead with a little bacon on top. The burger and chips $ 8 is amazing though !!!! The fries are huge, thick and super tasty. The dish also came with a side of cole slaw, and of course the huge hamburger !!! There are some places where you can find a fresh burger, fries and coleslaw for only $ 8 at the bay.
My mac and cheese was super creamy and delicious. I would also like to have added mushrooms. I'll try your hamburger again, and I'll have some mac and more cheese.
Last week we had a bad experience with the barbecue, so today I was looking for something new when we decided to go to dinner early. He did a Yelp search and ran into Mesquite and Oak. Oh my
He opened the door and entered the incredible smell of the barbecue. It was good enough that my wife and I looked at each other and commented on it.
First visit, so my wife and I did the Pitmaster Plate. We both had the chest - I added the pulled pork. Both were exceptional - moist and tasty - great without BBQ sauce. We took an assortment of sides to try: baked beans, potato salad, Mac cheese and coleslaw. They were all very good. They are demanding with the potato salad (mom is the standard), and this was a great competitor. The salad is also excellent: tasty seasoning and lots of pepper to give it a great flavor. Complete it with the exceptional cornbread and we were sold totally at Mesquite and Oak on our first visit.
The rest of the menu looks just as good, including breakfast options all day. I will try hash and chest eggs in the near future. Even their deserts look promising, maybe next time.
Very friendly team working this afternoon - had a great conversation with David, the manager.
Overall, it's a great place and, even with just one visit in my stomach, I would definitely recommend Mesquite and Oak.
